Co2 leak detector for coolant.

where can I buy such a kit ?

 

Its to check if any Co or Co2 has gotten into the coolant system caused by a head gasket faliure.

Place a condom on your radiator, if it inflates you have a leaking head gasket or cracked head.

 

Wify might not belive you so do not keep the left-over rubbers in the car. ..

Brilliant! Hahaha... It's a mates Freelander 1.8! And we have been struggling to find out the problem . Compression test came up good so this is the next advised step.

Its not a joke...

you can also form a shiled of alufoil over the radiator opening (to shilde from draft from fan) and test with a lighter; flame goes out if CO2 or CO is emitted.

No, remove the radiator cap and put it there.

There is no cap on the Freelander .... The only cap is on the expansion tank.

Ok, then it should be OK to put it on there. Guess the tank is pressurized? The cap is same as on a radiator?
