In the process of changing a top gasket on my 1996 P38 Range Rover 2,5 DSE, the camshaft was removed. On reinstalling, I used too much moment/torque on the M7 nuts, and some of the pinbolts (studs) were damaged. As far as I know so far, the bolts elongated in the free zone, and one snapped, but the stub could be unskrewed from the aluminimum top. My studs are fully threaded, but the parts catalogue show bolts threaded at both ends. I hope those may be interchanged. I thought it better to change all 14 pin bolts. The dimension is Stud-M7x45 with STC 2387 parts number, but apparently not available.

Now: The challenge is to find new Studs (pin bolts), perferrably fully treaded, or treaded at each end. Can anyone help me getting those bolts?

heps:

you mention the top gasket, guess you are talking about the HEAD gasket, not the rocker-cover-gasket ?

Nevertheless - Wüerth have a great selection of bolts, but if the dimention are 7mm, i guess the easy way is to remove some bolts from an scrapped head. Have you asked turner-engineering ? They have a great selection of M51 parts...

Other source could be to ask a BMW parts specialist, like Koed.no or GS bildeler in Oslo. But you will need to use an BMW chassis number to find parts, best tip is to " steal " a regplatenumber from a BMW 3 series or 5 series from Finn.no

If you start with THIS list you have a start. But beware, both M47 and M57 engines are on the list...

Good luck ! If you drive a P38 you are going to need it !

Hi.

Understand you are talking about the M7X45 bolts for the upper shells on the camshaft stands.

And you have tried every common dealer like Lrdirect:https://www.lrdirect.com/STC2387-Stud/?keep_https=yes

Famous four:https://www.famousfour.co.uk/search?string=STC2387&veh=rr_p38a and so on.

These guys for example advertice with the part in stock: https://www.lrparts.net/stc2387-stud.html

Also you could try Technoclassic at Lier. https://www.technoclassic.no/, give them a call and ask for the part if its very urgent.

Anyway the stud should be easy to trace when you have the correct partnumber and everything.

Best regards Brage
