  1. I'm about to start my Land Rover Series 3 Diesel after a major overhaul. It has had a rebore and the engine has been completely disassembled and reassembled. I think i've done the obvious but I want to know if there are some important things (engine wreckers) to check before turning the key and what I should look for as good and bad signs when it gets running. One thing i'm especially worried about is oil delivery. Can I reliably check that oil is getting around the engine? Would oil in the rocker gallery be something to check to ensure it is flowing properly? Obviously oil light going off is a good clue but i'm working with 35year old electrics. As you might be able to tell, i'm a little nervous. I need some of that supportive energy from you guys.
  2. Thank you. I will give those a try.
  3. I just took my 1979 Land Rover Series 3 for the EU control and they failed it. The reasons would be funny if it wasn't such a waste of time. First they didn't know how to start it and gave it no preheat. They said the handbrake / emergency brake affected the right side more than the left (they didn't even notice that the Land Rover hand brake is a separate brake on the propshaft) and they said there was play in the steering (which is just the flex in the steering bars). I need a workshop which knows Land Rovers or has at least seen a car older than 10 years. Any good recommendations around Oslo? I'd like to take it for testing tonight or tomorrow if anyone knows somewhere.
