  1. We saw very few animals there due to the snow.... These Bulls I did not expect to see at the petrol station right near the park.... Dave!
  2. Hopefully an eventful trip and no time for updates. Rubber side down and eyes to the views! Dave!
  3. Hi guys, I've added a link to LR4X4 as it wouldn't let me add so many photos on here and the text wouldn't make much sense without them. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=74921 The trip has us hooked, i need to modify a few things but we have already decided that we will do a similar trip to Finland next year, possibly popping into Russia. Road trips in a Landy are fantastic and Scandanavian scenery is awe inspiring !! A great many thanks for the help this site gave me, I hope there is not much tutting as you read how we went about our trip haha Dave!
  4. I've checked and it's definitely open when we are in the area.... Namskogen Dyrepark Has anyone been ? It looks to be quite good and will mean we can see some animals we would never see back home hopefully. Dave!
  5. That S11 looks fantastic, very nice indeed and you appear to have quite a nice playground to use it in. Dave!
  6. Excellent, i'll remove it once I get home then and find a home to store it, i'll just remove the fan itself and leave the unit on the engine still. The heater will be on permanently. Dave!
  7. Now that i'm fully Elk and Moose aware haha, another question. Do you guys keep your viscous fans connected in winter? Even when cold the fan still spins and draws up the gap at the bottom of the grill, I have a radiator muff but was wondering whether removing the fan aswell was common? People do it here in the UK but how needed it is i'm not so sure in our climate. Only 14 days till I leave, very excited Dave!
  8. I better get my welder out and add more spikes ! We have Troll Hunter on the ipad ready to watch when we are away. I think i'll try the avoiding method though mainly, it might be safer haha. Dave!
  9. My front bumper is 4mm plate boxed in and fitted with 12.9 grade bolts, so i'm sure that would survive a meeting with an Elk, by the looks of things, the rest of the car wouldn't though . So when I see one at the side of the road, I should slow right down till I pass it, then carry on as normal afterwards I take it? If one is standing in the middle of the road, do you wait for it to move or drive up to it slowly and get it to move? We only get issues with the odd sheep or rabbit over my way so the problems don't have the same kind of danger. Dave!
  10. I had been warned off of using roof lights as they would just light up the snow, i'm not a fan of roof lights so if they can be avoided it would be better. Is it for the extra light output they may be needed or is it due to them being much higher up? I run some uprated bulbs in new lenses which are pretty good, far better than original. Dave!
  11. The trip is mainly to get as far north as we can, hopefully see the northern lights and a few other sites along the way. We're a bit limited for time but it's more of an adventure drive than a sight seeing tour, doing something out of her comfort zone etc. We need to average 470km a day for the entire trip, so as that includes the faster straight run back through Sweden and the straight runs through europe I think we wiull be fine. I think I averaged it out as only needing to average 260KM while in Norway itself? We are both swapping the driving every 3 hours so we stay fresh. Look out for our truck That's a good average speed, if we can manage within 75% of that i'll be very pleased indeed. Not so many fuel stops to worry about but not so much music to while away the time either haha. Dave!
  12. I used to have a simple soultion to the ventilation and damp, I never fitted lower door seals to the 3 doors, this was un-satisfactory for my better half so these are now fitted, damn haha. This is how i've insulated the back.... The roof has flashing tape and then carpet stuck directly to that, the walls have flashing tape, then foil backed bubble wrap, then furniture fire proof foam and carpet stuck to fibreboard. The floor and up the contoured edges above the wheelb oxes are coated with Protectacote, which is a rubberised paint. Is my plan of 10 days to get from Oslo, to Nordkapp through Norway, then back through Sweden to Copenhagen realistic? I plan to just drive through sweden without doing any sightseeing as it's Norway I want to see on this trip. 16 days in total, by day 3 I will be in Oslo. Dave!
  13. We have a snow shovel, our sleeping bag is a double anyway and we have a couple of thin quilts and arctic roll mats. There is a ventilator on the roof but to be fair, in the UK we still get condensation in the winter, the roof is carpeted but not the ribs, maybe it would be worth covering the ribs aswell. I can see the ice scraper being worked overtime haha. Dave!
  14. Excellent, it's my first long trip with my fiance so i'm probably worrying a bit too much about problems. Once my other half has finished cleaning up the insides for me i'll pop some pictures up of what will be our hotel for 2 weeks. Dave!
  15. That's excellent, the near total freedom aslong as you respect the environment you are in is a really big attraction about coming over, no pressure to get anywhere at a particular time each day. Dave!
